Gyro Time | Our Story

A Greenwood Tradition Since 1978
Gyro Time started as a counter inside Dar El Salam Market on Greenwood Avenue North — no fanfare, just honest Mediterranean cooking. More than four decades later, the food is still the whole point.

The First Counter
In 1978, Gyro Time opened inside a neighborhood market in Greenwood — an unassuming spot that stayed put while Seattle kept changing.

Rooted in the Classics
Tender gyro meat shaved fresh, crispy falafel with tahini, grilled kofta over saffron rice, flaky baklava to finish — no gimmicks, no shortcuts.

The Gyro Fries
The kitchen invented something regulars still talk about: gyro fries — seasoned gyro meat piled over crispy fries, sauced and satisfying. First-timers become regulars after one bite.

A Neighborhood in Every Visit
Families, students from North Seattle College, and longtime locals fill the dining room. Coastal murals and a sunny front patio make every visit feel like a getaway.

Beyond the Block
AOL named Gyro Time the best gyro destination in Washington state. Seattle food guides keep adding it to their shortlists — the reputation is earned bite by bite.
